Has anybody punched out the stock exhaust baffles?

General consensus is that this is not worth the effort. Most do not think it the sound is very good and it does nothing for performance.
It's best to get a set of aftermarket exhausts or slip-on.

I agree. I tried it and I didn’t like it, so I cut the
mufflers in half, torched out everything on the inside, welded them back
together, powder coated the mufflers black and had the dealer retune the carbs.
The bike was faster and sounds awesome all for not much money.
