Looney Motorcycle Seats

Being only a tad over 5'6" tall, I found myself using my toes while at a stop, even with the Sabres 27" seat hight. I first tried a set of 11.5" Progressive shocks but that only brought the bike down about .5" and I was still wasn't quite flat-footed when stopped.

Not wanting to completely slam the bike by going to struts, my only other option was a new seat. Doing some forum research, I found that the Looney DD was is the lowest seat you can find for the Sabre.

Using their web site, I ordered a standard seat with stiched flames, gel pad and matching fender bra. There was some type of problem with my web order and I called the next day and was helped by a very friendly person who assured me my order had gone through and they would start production on my seat within the week.

Being completely hand made to order, it took about 3 weeks for my seat to arrive. When it did arrive, it was packed well and there was no damage during shipping.

Installation is simple, you just remove the old seat, put on the fender bra to cover the taillight wires, put a couple of strips of velcro on your rear fender - where the seat sits on the fender - and you're ready to ride.

The velcro holds the seat on just fine, but is the only thing about the seat that I'm not overly fond of as the material on the bottom of the seat starts to pull away from the seat after removing the seat a bunch of times.

The seat definitely sits as low as you can go. To get an idea of how low, take your seat off, fold a towel up and lay it over the air box and take a seat - you aren't getting any lower.

I've taken many 300 mile rides and as long as I keep my tailbone shift towards the back of the seat I'll complete the ride with just a bit of stiffness. I have found that if I let the bike sit in the sun too long the gel pad heats up and it feels like my ass is on fire for 10 - 15 minutes until the thing cools back down.
